Often, the young members of a close family ignore the hard struggle led by the grandparents.
There are lifes, which story seems, at first sight, really touching and interesting enough to be published.
Error : yours is as interesting - if not more - when your own close family is involved.
Let your posterity know about the harshness of your time, your joys, your emotions, your sensitivity, the people you met, the family links, the loved places, your dreams, fulfilled or not, your successes and defeats; all these are essential elements the young generation can benefit from and be proud of.
Formerly :
The grandparents lived communally with their children and grandchildren. They were relating - often in the evening, in front of the fireplace - the family story to younger generation, who, without necessarily noticing it, were discovering their roots, their origin...
Today, the elder are isolated in homes. The family links tend to disappear. One little visit a week, some week none at all... Just time to kiss and say goodbye !
When ?
Whenever the family circle gets bigger, when grandchildren have appeared, your life story -in the form of a book - will find its meaning towards your descendants. It will replace the traditionnal family meeting and pass on the familial knowledge.
Retirement offers plenty of time to remember the past, to call up memories. It is also the best time to leave a tangible trace of a life rich of events.

Numerous questions can naturally appear in your children's or your grandchildren's mind. They will easily find an answer in the book of your life.
Also, in a written form, it is easier to play "cards on the table"; it is also easier to "shape" sentences, to give them a turn, a style...
